Host Cat Deeley brought all of her British charm and reminded viewers of how good she is at keeping things moving along, with all the proper nods to the judges. And she looked terrific in a sparkly gold and silver dress that looked like fireworks in motion. All in all, it was a feel-good show with no marks given by head judge Nigel Lythgoe, judge Mary Murphy and guest judge Zooey Deschanel of “New Girl,” just the dancers showing what they do well while the judges applauded their efforts.

A one-Friday-per-month Foreign Film Series that started in 2014 will expand to five films in its third year. Priced at $10 and including light refreshments and a moderator to briefly introduce the films, Blazin says audience response has been enthusiastic and the attendance substantial. The series is curated under the direction of the Arts Advisory Committee with a special emphasis on world culture. An Italian film, “The Bicycle Thief,” will launch the series Jan. 8. Subsequent movies tap stories involving the East German Secret Police; a young girl living in a suburb of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; a Nazi-themed drama from Poland; and the disappearance of a teacher in northern Iran. All movies are subtitled in English and include an optional post-screening discussion.

It marked the first public attempt to solicit feedback, The city formed a task force earlier this year comprised of representatives from various city departments, including police, fire, building and cultural affairs, There has been one invite-only listening session, where task force members heard from people involved in the local entertainment industry, “If you have a burdensome permitting process, and on the other side, a lack of enforcement and maybe other issues that discourage people from coming forward, maybe revealing a nonconforming building (for size 7,goth leather flats, wrap around flats, flats for women, leather flats 7,flats 7,ballet flats, ballet flats for women, ballet f example), it would probably encourage someone to not seek a permit,” Minor said, “In theory, the (special event permit) process is to promote safe events and to help mitigate the impacts of events on neighbors.”..

We understand that the plans for the new theater keep the current footprint of the theater intact, allowing the same amount of performing space, while improving public areas, work areas, sound and lighting, storage, and space for sets, costumes, and props. In order to be ADA-compliant, the new theater must incorporate access for everyone, and in doing so will require the current seating capacity to be somewhat reduced. However, we do not see this as a stumbling block to moving forward with renovations. For those productions such as the PHS musical, PHS Bird Calling, or the a cappella revue, we may add an additional performance as needed. Also, in keeping with current practice, assemblies at PHS will still be held in separate seatings.
