Kunze has starred on Broadway in leading roles for most of his professional career. Lapin said construction of the new buildings, ranging from six to 10 stories high, could begin as soon as this fall, pending Santa Clara County approval and the timing of the design process. Construction would occur over three years, with first occupancy possible in the fall of 2019. Stanford needs approval from Santa Clara County because the project is on county property. The county Department of Planning and Development is reviewing a request by the university submitted on Jan. 19, according to Kavitha Kumar, interim principal planner for the department’s project management division.
